Process safety firm reports a record year for business growth across engineering, software, and training services

As the 2022/2023 financial year has drawn to a close, process safety firm, Salus Technical reported a record year for business growth since the birth of the company in 2019. The firm’s annual turnover has jumped by over 50%, surpassing a £550k milestone.

Part of this success can be attributed to recent Process Safety training contract wins.  In March, Salus Technical announced securing a 250-person training course contract with Serica Energy and has since won two further oil and gas operator contracts, seeing an additional 550 individuals sign up to the ‘Process Safety Awareness’ on-demand course.

Although the launch of the training course has provided a financial boost for Salus Technical, along with income from the company’s software and engineering offerings, David Jamieson, Founder and Managing Director, is equally proud of the free-of-charge resource which the team published in February.  The guidance document entitled How offshore inspection scores reveal major accident prevention measures, was created with the aim of saving lives in high-hazard industries and is free to download from the Salus Technical website.  To date, the guidance document has been downloaded over 1,300 times.

Salus Technical now has a portfolio of over 30 software clients globally and has experienced huge growth in the renewables and net zero sectors with several large contract wins for the engineering side of the business.

David said, “We have enjoyed an exceptional start to 2023, as companies and individuals in high-hazard industries recognise the benefits of accessing our resources, using our software products, and following the safety advice which is ingrained in all that we do.  The team and I have an ongoing commitment to reducing the risk of injury and loss of life in these industries, so it is gratifying to know actions are being taken based on the knowledge and insights we have shared.

David continued, “We have several other developments to look forward to this year, including the launch of a new software product, HAZOP.AI, which is designed for Hazard and Operability Studies.  We are delighted to have delivered demos of the AI tool to 30 companies so far.

“I am also honoured to be invited as the keynote speaker at the forthcoming Step Change in Safety Elected Safety Rep Event.  I look forward to contributing to the agenda, working with the Step Change in Safety team, and meeting many more likeminded individuals at the event.”  An audience of several hundred people is expected to attend.

Salus Technical has plans for the development of more software products and has increased its headcount to six, resulting in an upsizing of office space in Aberdeen’s Skene Business Centre.  Process Safety Engineer Craig Paterson joined the team towards the end of 2022 and since then, Chineme Nwokwu was appointed as Software Customer Manager. The team is set to grow further as the recruitment process for a business development professional is currently underway.
