Prominent event organizer from Australia, Marco Selorio organized the first-ever Basketball Convention (BasketballCon) in the Philippines featuring Los Angeles Lakers Assistant Coach Phil Handy. Event organizer Marco Selorio is the main man behind this exciting event showcasing basketball, street dance, and the Web3 community.
The basketball convention or basketballcon will be held this coming Sunday, June 25, 2013, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Paco Arena, in the City of Manila. It is not only a convention for basketball lovers, enthusiasts, and thought-leaders, but it will also feature the street dance community, the sneakers community, and the Web3 community in the Philippines.
Short Story About Basketball Conference (BCON):
According to Marco Selorio in an interview with one of the country’s leading news outlets, PhilStar, he remembered when he used to live in the Philippines back in 1985 when his parents took him to a Shakey’s restaurant, watching an NBA Game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Washington Bullets.
That memories about basketball keep on reminding him even when he migrated to the Land Down Under or in Australia but his passion for basketball had been lit during that time.
Marco also noted that in Australia, he was the first person to produce PBA Legends Tours back in 2005, since then he dreamt about creating an expo or conference type of event that would bring fans and players together, like a fan fest.
Since 2022, the event organizer from Australia was already heavily involved in the street dance community so it was just a matter of curating cross-cultural events that can bring hip-hop and basketball under one roof.
This is the reason why the Coinchella founder, Marco Selorio, brings us to BasketballCon, or BCon for short, here in the Philippines, a lifetime event that brings together everyone who loves the game of basketball, Filipinos favorite pass time.
