Ashtons Legal has sponsored other categories at the Eastern Daily Press Business Awards in the past. Category judge David Sloman, senior associate at Ashtons, said the firm is “always looking out for ways to support Norfolk’s fantastic local businesses”.
“We hope to get to see some of the many exciting and growing local businesses up close and meet the inspiring entrepreneurs behind them,” he added.
“We’re looking for businesses with innovative ideas who can demonstrate a market for their products and how they have rapidly grown or are planning to do so.
“The best entries are usually well-presented and can show clear evidence of these criteria.”
Mr Sloman said winning the Growth Business of the Year award could have a “huge impact” on a business.
“Not only is it a badge of honour and recognition for the owners’ and directors’ hard work, but it also often leads to introductions and new opportunities for them through increased profile and exposure,” he explained.
Business growth should be driven by everyone in a company, not simply those at the top, Mr Sloman continued.
“All successful businesses need quality leadership, but it is key that they create a culture of encouraging development and success,” he said. “We want to see entries showing that staff are engaged and contribute to the business’ success.”
He added that having a clear vision and strategy is “so important for businesses that are ambitious about growing”.
“Owners and management need to be aligned and know what the plan is for the business, and they need to ensure that staff buy-in and join them on the growth journey,” Mr Sloman concluded.
