What You Need To Know

[ad_1]

Big box store Bed, Bath & Beyond is about to be history. After years of business troubles and floundering sales, the home goods behemoth filed for bankruptcy protection on Sunday, following in the footsteps of other classic brick-and-mortar favorites like Toys R Us.

The store says it will look for a buyer in the coming days and weeks, but withholding that, it will also begin winding down its operations, which will involve blowout sales and eventual store closings.

In the bankruptcy filing, the company listed assets and liabilities between $1 billion and $10 billion.

“Thank you to all of our loyal customers,” the company wrote on their website on Monday. “We have made the difficult decision to begin winding down operations.”

Not only will approximately 360 Bed, Bath & Beyond stores begin closing, but 120 buybuy BABY stores will be affected as well.

Here’s everything else you need to know about the closing of both Bed, Bath & Beyond stores and buybuy BABY stores.

Is Bed, Bath & Beyond going to remain open?

Yes, the stores are currently open, though all locations will close if a buyer is not found. The current plan is for operations to begin winding down immediately. Stores will still be open long enough to try to eliminate their inventory.

You can still shop at Bed, Bath, and Beyond online and via the app until further notice.

Are Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons still valid?

Many customers are wondering about their 20% off coupons. They’re good only until Wednesday, April 26 — so get out and use them either today or tomorrow!

Welcome Rewards can be redeemed until May 15, though new Welcome Rewards will not be issued from here on out.

Are Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons still valid?

Yes, gift cards are valid until May 8. You can use store credit until May 15.

Memberships are not available for refunds.

When does the Bed, Bath & Beyond closing sale begin?

Store closing sales will begin on Wednesday, April 26. The store has reminded shoppers that the best inventory will be available then. With most types of closing sales, price cuts will take place as inventory dwindles.

Can I still return or exchange items at Bed, Bath & Beyond?

Anything you buy before April 26 will be subject to normal returns and exchange policies until. And returns and exchanges on purchases made before that date can be made until May 24. So get in there before then if you have a to-do list item that’s been sitting on your countertop or in your car.

A Dad Is Refusing To Throw His 3-Year-Old A Birthday Party In Viral Post

[ad_1]

There’s that age-old phrase that always helps parents justify maybe getting a little extra when it comes to their young kids (see: trips to Disney, lavish vacations, and over-the-top birthday parties): “They won’t remember it, but I will.”

One dad doesn’t really see the point in even creating the memories for himself when his kids are so young. He took to Reddit’s popular “Am I The A—hole?” forum to poll whether or not he’s in the wrong when it comes to refusing to give his 3-year-old son a blow-out birthday party.

The original poster (OP) begins by explaining that his girlfriend has asked to throw their son a large birthday party every year, but he’s successfully managed to talk her out of it for their kid’s first and second birthday.

However, he explains that she’s now frustrated with him for, once again, putting his foot down about a large birthday party, noting that it’s pointless to waste resources on because their child will remember nothing.

“This year she told me about her plans and again I told her to just do something small, but this time she was frustrated and told me to let her do something bigger for our son for once,” he wrote. “I explained that it is ridiculous to have such big parties for toddlers, they will not remember anything.”

He cites a time when his parents threw him a “huge birthday party” that he has “no recollection of.”

His girlfriend still insisted that this was the year for a big party, but the OP fought back. This time citing that their son sleeps a lot and wouldn’t even be able to fully enjoy the party. “I told her again that it would just be having fun at his expense, the little guy is a heavy sleeper who plays and runs for 30 minutes and then falls asleep on a sofa or a chair or his bed,” he wrote.

“She still doesn’t understand my point of view, it’s not like he won’t ever have a birthday party, we should just wait until he’s like 6 or 7, you know, when he can actually remember.”

When he and his girlfriend remained at a standstill, he reached out to her mom, hoping that she could “talk some sense” into her. However, that did not go as he expected.

“I tried talking to her mom to see if she could talk some sense into her, only to be verbally slammed by her, telling me I’m depriving my child of a childhood. My mom says I should just do what my girlfriend says because Dad’s word is not that important and I should know my place as a father,” he continued.

“I feel like I’m going crazy over this. Am I the asshole?”

Reddit users were quick to jump in with the thoughts on the birthday party dilemma, with most users marking the OP as the “a—hole” in the situation. “So you shouldn’t do anything fun with your kids until they’re old enough to remember? Why bring them to the park? Why read them books? Why watch movies with them? Why do anything fun at all until they can have a memory of it? Do you see how stupid that sounds? YTA,” one user wrote in a comment upvoted almost 5k times.

Another echoed that sentiment, noting that the OP sounds like he doesn’t really allow his girlfriend to make decisions on what to do with her own kid.

“YTA. You got your way for two years – if she likes planning events like these, you should not take it away from her. Some day you might regret not having those cute pictures to share. For now, you kind of just sound like you are close minded to what she wants to do for her child. And, going behind her back to talk to her mom (to try to get your way) is a real jerk move,” they wrote.

Others commented that, sure, the kid probably won’t remember the birthday party, but is that a reason to never do anything fun with your kids? “YTA. I HATE when people say the child “won’t remember it”. Does it matter, or is it if he has fun? Yes, he can do other things to have fun, but as long as he could enjoy it who cares! And it shouldn’t be what you will “allow”. If you guys can’t afford it or another logical reason to not throw a huge party I get that, but just because you “say so”? Go somewhere else with that,” another user wrote.

When met with tons of backlash, the OP posted an update, defending his opinion and arguing that no one in the thread understood his point.

“Ok, I see that you think I’m the asshole, I see, ok? But NONE of you understand what my point is,” he wrote.

“All of you say that birthday parties should be done anyway because the other people will remember. That’s what I say in the post. Its an excuse for adults to have a party at the expense of the toddler who wont remember it. It’s a selfish reason.”

Doubling down, he then notes he is going to “let” his girlfriend throw the party.

“… I already told her to do whatever she wants. I’ll just stay out of it and just be present at the party. I hope she realized in the future how pointless it is to throw parties for toddlers,” he said.

Though the majority of Reddit users overwhelming thought this guy needs to shut it, there were some in the majority that agreed in the OP’s idea that the party is being put on for selfish reasons.

“NTA. I read people’s points about ‘why do anything for a young kid, they won’t remember?’ Sweeping generalizations…LOL. Really, having parties for a young kid is just about having a great reason to get family and friends together and celebrate another year of making it through as a parent. Also to take cute pics that the kid can see later since they won’t remember,” they commented.

TikTok Mom Warns Parents About Baby Names That Kids Will “Outgrow”

[ad_1]

Most parents want to make sure that whatever they decide to pick for a baby name, the name has meaning, fits who the child is, and isn’t a source of shame or embarrassment. Some parents opt for totally out-of-pocket names that are unique and memorable (See: Malibu Barbie and Apple). Others are going for more classic names like Emma or John.

One strategy for naming a child might be picking something cute or precious — perfect for your new bundle of joy, but a little cringe when it comes to addressing an actual adult. Would you take a “Payzlee” seriously during an interview? Or imagine your kid having to introduce themselves as “Whiskey” during a first date.

A few moms on TikTok are warning other parents that while, yes, naming your child is a special moment, there should be some thoughtfulness and foresight put into the process no matter what.

One TikTok mom — Ruby — stitched a video from another TikTok creator who explained that when she named her kids, she named “adults not babies.” Ruby agreed with this sentiment, explaining that when she named her daughter, she wanted to make sure it was a name she would never “outgrow.”

“The whole concept when I was trying to look for a name and choose a name for her is I did not want her to outgrow her name,” she said in the viral video that now has over 11 million views. “I wanted the name to fit her as a baby, as a toddler, as a child and into adulthood. So, it’s like I really am happy with what I ended up with naming her and it just fits her so well.”

She captioned the video, “love having nicknames as they are younger and it doesn’t mean they will prefer it over their name as they get older. Just gives them options 🤷🏻‍♀️.”

After the video went viral, thousands of TikTok users flooded Ruby’s comment section, agreeing with her notion that kids can outgrow certain names. “Imagine a 30 year old named posie and sunday,” one user wrote.

Others joked that babies with “adult” names can be a bit unsettling, too. “I’m not holding no Barbara,” one user commented.

One user noted that nicknames work perfect right now and her children’s names will transfer seamlessly into adulthood. “I have a Joseph and a Liliana, but they’re little so they’re Joey and Lili,” she wrote.

In a follow-up video, Ruby revealed the names of her children after several commenters asked. Ruby explains her daughter’s name is Karla Esmeralda.

“I just really liked how simple, how bold, and strong that the name by itself just really kind of is. Doing some research names with the letter K tend to be like very bold and powerful names so I really wanted it with a K and not with a C,” she said.

“And then for her middle name, Esmeralda, her grandpa is the one that chose that one. And we really liked it. We thought it was a beautiful name. I just didn’t like the way that it flowed as a using it as a first name so we stuck that as her middle name and so that’s how we got her name.”

While most commented that Ruby’s daughter’s name was beautiful, others criticized for her naming her daughter with an old-sounding name. “You named a grandma,” one user wrote.

Another said, “Karla … u cannot be talkin bout other kids names fr😭😭😭”

To which Ruby replied, “Everyone has their reasons when choosing a name, these were mine. each to their own. Some names im definitely surprised with but not my babies 🤷🏻‍♀️”

This isn’t the first time that children outgrowing their names has been a hot topic on social media. Just last month, parenting influencers Connor and Liana were in the spotlight after a couple of different parenting influencers, Matt & Abbey, seemed to be publicly ridiculing their baby name choice for being too babyish.

“I’m going to be honest with you, it does kind of bug me, some of the names that are out there nowadays,” Abby said in the couple’s podcast, The Unplanned. “They’re so off the wall. You know your child is going to be an adult, and potentially work in a professional setting…”

“If you name your kid something that’s really cute for a kid, but then they don’t have a name that can be an adult name, that is scary,” Matt agreed.

In that case, the baby name in question was Koazy (pronounced Cozy). And yes, one has to admit it’s a bit hard to imagine the president, or a brain surgeon with that name. But maybe the future will be different when far more people have original names? It’s hard to say.

There is something to be said about the weight that a name can hold for a person. Recent studies found that what a child is named has the potential to influence behavior, physical appearance, career path and life choices, popularity, and how others perceive them.

Dad Arrested For Piercing Teenage Son’s Ear At Home In Viral Video

[ad_1]

A confrontation between a dad and Arkansas police has gone viral after officers were caught on camera entering into a family home to arrest the father.

The crime in question? Piercing his teenage son’s ear.

Jeremy Sherland, 45, of Tontitown, Arkansas, cackled in disbelief as five police officers took him away in handcuffs as his wife called for his release. Sherland’s son filmed the incident that he then posted to TikTok with the caption, “I pierced my ear a year ago and he got arrested because of it.”

When Sherland’s wife questioned police on why her husband was being arrested, you can hear one of the officers say the arrest is for an “unlawful body piercing.”

Sherland laughed out loud while being taken away in handcuffs while yelling, “Body art without a license?!”

His son chimes in from behind the camera and says, “I wanted my ears pierced!”

According to Tontitown Police, the situation began when Sherland’s son was seen in class with a piercing in his left ear. He was allegedly overheard saying his father was drunk, put him in a chokehold, then “shoved the piercing in his ear.”

The situation began when the boy was seen in class with a piercing in his left ear.

He was overheard saying his father was drunk and put him in a chokehold, then ‘shoved the piercing in his ear,’ according to the police.

The school’s resource officer then contacted the Tontitown Police Department about conducting a welfare check. When officers went to the family home, Sherland admitted to piercing his son’s ear but would not let them speak to his son or answer questions. Police then returned with an arrest warrant issued by the county. The rest played out in the now-viral TikTok video.

Sherland was also charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, refusing to submit to arrest, and obstructing governmental operations. Records indicate he spent two nights in the Washington County jail before being released on a $1,500 bond.

According to Arkansas law, it is forbidden to “perform body art on a person under 16 years of age, regardless of parental consent.” It is also illegal “to perform body art in any unlicensed facility.” Violation of the law is a Class D felony in the state. Piercing laws are obviously going to vary state-by-state. For example, what is a Class D felony in Arkansas is a Class A misdemeanor in Illinois.

It is advised by law professionals to look up your state’s particular piercing laws before trying to pierce your child’s body at home.

Some parents opt to have a professional piercer handle any piercings their child might want, however, that doesn’t stop the criticism. Teen Mom alum Farrah Abraham was blasted by the internet after she allowed her daughter, 14-year-old Sophia Abraham, to get six facial piercings at one time.

Abraham had no time for the negativity, noting that she supports her daughter’s decisions about who she wants to become.

“I won’t be shaming my daughter, I LOVE and support Sophia 100 percent on who and what she wants to become,” Abraham, 31, told In Touch. “The mom shamers should recognize what some kids will grow out of and what they [will not]. That’s part of a teen journey as I don’t have my belly button piercing anymore.”

“I have all the compassion for her as I wish I had as a teen,” she said.

Parent Tested Parent Approved Spring 2023 Winners: Baby & Toddler

[ad_1]

The Parent Tested Parent Approved seal has been the symbol of instant trust for millions of consumers for over 15 years. It’s an award built on authentic testing by real families with real feedback.

They select target audience families from their parenting community to test and review products. Once testing is completed, they review overall scores and feedback to determine if they product is a seal of approval winner.

Here are the products that won the seal of approval in the Baby & Toddler category. You can find all the winners here.

Angelcare 2-in-1 Bathtub

I have always loved the Angelcare bathtub, so I was excited to see this upgrade. It’s ergonomically designed to hold baby securely during bath time and can be used in a bathtub, shower, or directly on the floor.

The soft-touch material warms to the temperature of both water and baby and has anti-slip base legs to keep it securely in place. It can be used first, from 0 to 6 months in a lying position and then, in a sitting position, from 6 to 12 months.

It’s made from durable, mold-resistant material, and the bathtub is easy to clean and store.

What testers had to say:

“I didn’t expect to like this product, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much we did end up liking it. It doesn’t use nearly as much water as our other baby bathtub, and supports our 6 month old in a nice sitting position.” – Talia

“Baby didn’t slide down and had lots or room to kick and splash! Very light weight and portable. It held enough water to keep most of baby covered. It did not slide around in the bath tub and was pretty sturdy, to where it didn’t feel like it would tip over.” – Kara

Diaper Genie Signature Pail

If you are on the lookout for a diaper pail that really seals in the stink, this one might be for you!

The new Diaper Genie Signature pail features odor-locking clamps that help prevent diaper odors from escaping. It has a foot pedal for hands-free operation and a wide disposal opening that requires no bending.

The diaper pail can hold up to 47 newborn diapers and includes a long-lasting refill that can last up to 5 months or hold up to 846 newborn diapers. (That’s a lot of crap.) Their 18 easy tear-off refill bags are made from a durable multi-layer antimicrobial film with odor-locking barrier technology, and are perforated for convenient use and disposal.

What testers had to say:

“I cannot imagine managing hundreds of diapers that we run through for my daughter without this. Plus the best part is no matter how smelly it is, diaper genie doesn’t let the smell out. I highly recommend this to everyone!”Kirti

“We have a changing table in our bedroom, and the Diaper Genie Signature Pail contains the smell of our baby’s poop, which has gotten significantly more potent after he started solid foods. It performs better than a standard trash bin at containing the smell. It’s also easy to refill the bags even when we’re sleep deprived.”Jenny

eufy Baby S340 Smart Sock

I would have loved this as a new parent. I was super twitchy about not being to hear the baby and obsessed with sleep schedules. This smart sock kit contains a smart sock and eufy Baby’s latest baby monitor.

Wellness Tracker and Daily Reports Smart Sock keeps track of your baby’s real-time sleep data, including heart rate, sleep status, and movements, and provides daily sleep reports. You get instant notifications when your baby is awake or fussy from both the base and your phone and the base will alert you with a sound and a red light.

The camera comes with non-invasive night vision, and the camera has 2K crystal-clear clarity to see everything happening in your baby’s room.

What testers had to say:

“The app gave me some peace of mind and had some interesting metrics. I also liked how clear the camera was and that I could see well into her crib from the app. I’d recommend this to new parents who are wanting to keep track of their baby while they sleep. The price seems to match the quality.”Amanda

“I like that it tells me when my child is crying and doesn’t alarm me every minute that he’s still crying. It helps with trying to get him to self soothe. The camera quality is great and I love that you can move the camera in the app. The app is easy to use and I like seeing how he sleeps.”Christine

hand holding SmartCheck from Tylenol on a smart phone

Any parent can tell you that ‘ear infection roulette’ is a game we play frequently. Is it teething or is it an ear infection? Is it a sleep regression or an ear infection?

This digital otoscope easily connects to your iPhone, allowing you to capture and share recordings of your child’s eardrum with a healthcare professional to support a remote diagnosis. Parents can have peace of mind knowing they’re prepared the next time their child experiences ear infection symptoms anytime, anywhere.

What testers had to say:

“This is a very handy tool to have on hand and use! Set up took a few mins so do that before it’s actually needed. The video quality is great. Instructions are very specific and easy to follow.”Sarah

“SmartCheck has already saved me from taking a sick kid to the doctor’s office in a blizzard. We live in upstate NY and my daughter was tugging at her ear and had a fever. I called our pediatrician and mentioned that I had SmartCheck and could send them a video of her ear. The receptionist checked with the doctor and it was quite easy to send the recording via email. He was diagnosed with an ear infection and was able to send her medication to the pharmacy. If I didn’t have this device I would have to have dragged her out of the house to have her doctor look at her ear.”Gretchen

Kidz Safe Lock

This lock secures most 2-prong or 3-prong power cord plugs, and you need a key to remove the lock once placed on the plug. It helps parents prevent electronic product injuries and regulate video games, TV, and computer usage.

I had no idea this kind of thing even existed. It makes total sense to lock the plug vs. hauling all the equipment off whenever you want to secure it.

What testers had to say:

“I like that I can control the use of electronics by locking it up rather than taking away all of the plugs. I also like the fact that someone could take this to work to lock up their electronics there so no one else can gain access to them.”Bethany

“My favorite way to use it was our Christmas tree. My kids know not to play with cords but when the Christmas tree came out they felt they could plug in the lights whenever they wanted. I really appreciate the simple way to keep them safe with minimal emotional outbursts from them!”Heather

Meghan Trainor Apologizes For Controversial Comments About Teachers

[ad_1]

Singer Meghan Trainor is attempting damage control after getting a little too honest during a recent episode of her podcast, Workin’ On It. The “All About That Bass” singer posted a video apologizing for her “careless” comments about teachers while talking about homeschooling her kid.

Trainor, 29, explained that context was missed during the podcast segment when she passionately dismissed teachers while speaking about the public school system. Trainor said was “fired up” about how sending your kid to school in America is a scary thing these days.

The singer — who shares son Riley, 2, with husband Daryl Sabara, and is expecting another child this year — talked about her plans to homeschool her children in the midst of all the gun violence in schools. Meghan was referring to the mass shootings in America’s schools, including the most recent nationally-covered incident at The Covenant School in Nashville, in which a 28-year-old woman opened fire in the primary school and killed three teachers and three students.

“We’re homeschooling our kids,” she said during the episode while speaking with podcast guest and Youtube star, Trisha Paytas. “Everyone on TikTok is like, ‘This is what it’s like having kids in America. I have a bulletproof backpack.’ I was like, uh-uh, f*ck all that.’”

Paytas agreed with Trainor’s remarks, adding that she had worried about putting her daughter — Malibu — in school with the possibility of bullies and teachers, inferring that she was bullied by teachers.

Trainor cut her off and remarked, “F*ck teachers, dude.”

While it’s legit that some teachers can be bullies or cause trauma in kids, what did the teachers —some who quite literally put their life on the line for their students — do to you, Meghan?

According to her apology video, some teacher did personally hurt her.

“Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world, I recently said ‘F teachers’ on the podcast and it’s not how I feel,” the pregnant singer said in the TikTok video. “I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific and what all of us have to go through but especially teachers is not normal and not okay.”

She explains that listeners of the podcast did not have some of the context that Trainor had on Paytas’ history of hurt with unkind teachers along with Trainor’s history as well.

“So, in that moment, I got angry and said, ‘F teachers, F those specific human beings back in the day,’ but I did not mean that to all teachers,” she continued.

“I love teachers. I fight for teachers. I think they have the hardest job and they’re the most underpaid. They’re the most unappreciated when they literally raise all of us. They are the most unappreciated when they literally raise all of us. I don’t want to make excuses, I just want to [say] I am so sorry,” she backtracked, noting that she realizes that her words have have a consequence.

Trainor tagged TikTok user @GalsGotMoxie in her caption of the apology video, thanking her for bringing her misguided comments to light.

In @GalsGotMoxie’s video, she truly lives up to her username, calling out Trainor for being “out of touch” and explaining how much words matter using her own classroom tactics. “I’ve seen this sign in a lot of different schools, and it’s meant to remind kids to kind of stop and think — T.H.I.N.K. — before they speak,” the teacher of seven years begins.

“It tells them to ask themselves, “Is what you’re about to say thoughtful? Is it helpful? Is it inspiring? Is it necessary? And is it kind?”

She goes on to defend teachers, remarking how much they all adapted and strained and survived through teaching during a pandemic, “setting aside their own personal, mental and physical health” for the sake of their students’ happiness and learning.

She then dives into Meghan’s comments about her desire to homeschool her children due to gun violence in schools. “And now Megan’s right,” she says. “Parents do send their kids school with bulletproof backpacks. And who do you think is expected to use their body as a shield during the moments when those backpacks are necessary?”

Strong point.

She calls out the “Made You Look” singer for being able to use her ‘money and resources to try to avoid’ all the things that every parent who is not as privileged she is has to face when sending their kid to school.

While @galsgotmoxie has since publicly said she respects Trainor’s apology and thanked for her reflecting on her shocking words, others have not been so forgiving. The singer’s podcast YouTube channel is flooded with comments, expressing how hurt they are by Trainor’s blanket statement about teachers.

One user wrote, “She needs to make a statement on her podcast and delete that episode permanently. She won’t though because at the end of the day it’s all about the 💰”

Another came to Trainor’s defense and said, “There are bad teachers out there and Meghan was referring to them. In a heated moment, made a general statement. She’s pregnant give her some grace!”

Whatever you think about Trainor and her apology, it’s clear that teachers should be just about the last people to blame for the issues in America’s school systems.

What Does buybuy Baby’s Closing Mean for You?

[ad_1]

Buybuy Baby’s parent company, Bed Bath & Beyond, filed for bankruptcy on Sunday.

If you head to the buybuy Baby website right now it says, “Thank you to all of our loyal customers. We have made the difficult decision to begin winding down our operations. Bed Bath & Beyond and buybuy Baby stores remain open to serve you.”

In the meantime, all 120 buybuy BABY stores will remain open as well as their website.

This could mean they will shut it down for good. Or it could mean that someone will swoop in and purchase buybuy Baby OR it could shift to online only. Only time will tell.

So what does that mean for you?

If you need to return something

They will accept returns and exchanges for items purchased prior to April 26, 2023 until May 24, 2023. Any purchases made after April 26, 2023, will be final.

If you have a gift card

Use it. They are going to be valid through May 8, 2023.

If you have a credit

You can use merchandise credits until May 15, 2023. Use it as soon as you can. You might be able to score a great deal but stock will dwindle quickly.

If you have Welcome Rewards

You can use your Welcome Rewards until May 15th, 2023. Not surprisingly, you won’t be earing any reward on future purchases.

Can I still use coupons?

They will stop accepting coupons on April 26, 2023.

You have placed an order recently

They expect all in-stock orders to be delivered.

What if your baby registry is at buybuy Baby

According to buybuy Baby, “Your registry data is safe and you can still view your registry at this time. We expect to partner with an alternative platform where you will be able to transfer your data and complete your registry. We will provide details in the coming days.”

I would shift your registry to something else (like Babylist or Amazon) so you’re not stuck with baby gear you can’t return. You can check out my list of other Baby Registries options.

What about buybuy Baby stores in Canada?

All 11 buybuy Baby locations will be closing permanently.

To Sum Up

It looks like buybuy Baby is another large retailer taken down by the shift in shopping habits. If you have rewards, gift cards or store credits, use them now. They might have some decent sales in the coming weeks, but keep in mind all sales will be final.

The 5 Best Baby Swings in 2023 & How They’ll Help With Your Fussy Baby!

[ad_1]

Having a baby swing not only helped me get through those long newborn days, but I found the swing continued to be one of my go-to’s as my baby grew. That is why a baby swing always tops my list of must-haves for new moms. Below we have broken down some of the most important features that go into finding the best baby swing for you and your baby.

The Best Baby Swings in 2023

I know you have probably heard a lot of conflicting opinions on swings. So many babies just want to be rocked all day long, and who can blame them? Especially since they spent nine months being snug and constantly rocked in your belly.

Unfortunately, this can get pretty tiring and keep you from getting anything done (and by getting anything done, I mean being able to take a shower every once in a while).

A swing is a perfect spot to set your baby down. When used properly, they’ll be safe and sound buckled in. Not only are the best baby swings a soothing, safe spot for your little one to nap, but they can be pretty entertaining too. All that being said, you are definitely going to want to add ones of these awesome baby swings to your registry list. Check them out!

graco soothe my way swing

Graco Soothe My Way Baby Removable Rocker – Our #1 Choice

A lot of people rave about the 4moms mamaRoo baby swing, well, Graco has its own swing with similar features! To be perfectly honest we think it is by far the best baby swing out there.

What we love about the Graco Soothe My Way Rocker:

There are 8 different motions in 2 different directions, so there are 16 ways to soothe your baby. Not every baby can be soothed by the same motion or speed. With this many motions plus 6 different swing speeds, once you find the right setting, your baby will be rocking to sleep.

The swing has 3 Reclining Positions. Once again, a baby swing is all about soothing your baby! Having 3 different reclining positions helps you find the perfect position for your little one. Our baby loved lying flat at first but as he got older he enjoyed a slightly more upright position.

You can remove the swing off of the base, making it just a seat. In this configuration, you can still have the seat vibrate. This is a really cool feature of this swing. It easily detaches as a seat.

Best Baby Swing

Graco Duet Soothe Swing & Rocker – Best Bang for Your Buck

While Soothe My Way Baby Rocker is our favorite, it is more pricey than the standard swing. For parents who don’t want to spend as much, the Swing and Rocket is a more affordable option.

What we love about the Graco Duet Soothe Swing and Rocker:

You really get the best of both worlds with this swing. It’s got everything you could need in a swing, plus you can easily detach the seat and it becomes a little rocker. This means you can leave the full swing in a popular spot like your living room but move the rocker seat around in case you need to get something done elsewhere.

The swing can rock both side to side and front to back, which is a godsend for picky babies. Your baby will also love the music, vibration options, and mobile!

4Moms Mamaroo

4moms MamaRoo Multi-Motion Baby Swing – A Baby Swing with all of the Bells and Whistles

This is the baby swing that does it all and combines all the settings of a traditional swing and rocker into one seat!

What we love about the 4moms mamaRoo:

One thing that really sets the 4moms mamaRoo apart is that it has five different motions all inspired by the way parents move. This means it moves more like you do and you are more likely to find an option that will soothe your baby every time.

It has Bluetooth compatibility so you can play your baby’s favorite music. You can also connect it to the 4moms app which will help you choose the motion and speed most like your own to keep your baby content.

Ingenuity InLighten Baby SwingA Classic Baby Swing Favorite

If this cozy swing gets a stamp of approval from a mom of 6, then you know it’s good! She says to keep in mind that most babies prefer to sway side to side or back and forth, and this swing does both. It is the perfect spot to put down your babe.

The fabric is super soft and the mobile has cuddly friends that your baby will come to love. It has many different options for position, movement, and 20+ noise options varying from nature sounds to white noise.

I also love that it is foldable and lightweight so it can be easily moved and stored as needed.

Nuna x PBK Leaf Grow Baby Bouncer – Best Baby Swing for the Trendy Mom

Baby bouncers are a little different from infant swings, but this option from Nuna combines the features of both. It will have your sweet little one feeling like they are floating on a cloud. It’s ultra-quiet and smooth.

Your baby will love the cozy organic insert and the toy bar that you can easily take on and off depending on what you are using the seat for. As far as design goes, I love how sleek and modern it looks.

Best of all, its smart design allows it to transform from a baby swing into a big kid seat up to 130 lbs!

Ingenuity Cozy Kingdom Portable Swing– Best Portable Baby Swing for Travel

Unlike the other more stationary options on this list, the Ingenuity Swing ‘n Go is meant to be moved around wherever it’s needed. This will make it an awesome swing for your baby when traveling, and it even folds up super easily. Hello, hotel naps!

It still has multiple speed options, both nature and lullaby sounds, and a little toy bar for entertainment. It also has 2 different recline positions which are nice bonuses. Keep in mind this guy only takes batteries and has no plug-in option, so you will have to keep some extras on hand just in case.

Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing – Best Infant Swing for Compact Spaces

Best baby Swing Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing, Abbington

With the list price being only $99 (and plenty of chances to find a discount even on that) this is one of the most affordable baby swings. It’s also really compact making it great for those of us with a little less space. Just because it’s affordable does not mean it’s lacking anything. Like many of the other swings on our list, it has a mobile, tons of different sound options, and 2 vibration settings. This swing seat does slow down a little as your baby grows, but it does its job and by the time they outgrow it they are probably ready for something like a jumper instead.

Munchkin Bluetooth Enabled Lightweight Baby Swing – A Budget-Friendly Smart Swing

best baby swing

This swing has a side-to-side motion meant to remind the baby of being rocked in your arms. It has 5 different speed options. One of the absolute coolest things about this swing is that you can play music through the Bluetooth-connected device meaning you can pick your baby’s favorite songs or white noise.

This is also a great swing to travel with because it breaks down within seconds.

Features to Look for in a Baby Swing

So now you know our favorites, but you might be wondering what exactly we look for in a baby swing to determine if it is one of the best. Below are the really important features you are going to want to consider when picking out a swing.

Straps/Seatbelt:

First things first, you want this swing to be a safe place to set your baby down. That means the seatbelt is a super important thing to consider! Looks for swings that have a 3- or 5-point harness. I would also recommend heading to a baby store that has the swings out on display so that you can test out the ease of different buckles. You don’t want your baby to wake up after you tirelessly rocked them to sleep because you’re struggling to get them buckled in!

Head and Neck Support:

Along with seatbelt safety, you should consider the head and neck support offered by the swing of your choice. Babies cannot hold their heads up on their own so it is really important that this support is offered to keep them comfortable.

Noise Settings:

White noise works miracles when it comes to keeping a baby asleep, especially in a busy and potentially loud household. Swooshing sounds remind them of being safe in mama’s womb. Many of these baby swings have multiple different noise settings, the more the better! This way you can always find one that is soothing to your baby.

Vibration Settings:

Vibration along with the swinging movement will help to soothe your baby. Again, this is another way to remind them of the comfort of their mom’s womb. When you are trying to decide which swing is right for your baby, take into consideration whether it offers vibration settings.

Varying Movement:

Your baby swing, bounce, rock, vibrate; babies aren’t always easy to please so having options is good! This will make your swing more versatile meaning you can use it for both playtime and nap time.

Weight Limit:

If you want your swing to last past the 3-month mark, you definitely need to check out the weight limits on your swing options. Some swings now have grow-with-me features and can last as a seat up into your child’s toddler years.

Machine Washable vs Spot Cleaning:

Babies are messy little people, so you will definitely want to clean their swing every once in a while. The best possible scenario when it comes to cleaning is being able to remove the fabric from the swing and just throw it in the wash.

Baby Swing Safety

First and foremost, keep in mind that your baby needs to be supervised while in their swing at all times. You also should always properly buckle your baby in and follow the specific safety guidelines for your swing.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), babies should sleep on on their backs at all times until their first birthday, both for nap times and at night. This means if your baby falls asleep in their swing, they should be moved to a firm sleep surface and placed on their back.

There you have it, the best baby swings of 2023. There are a lot of frilly extras that you don’t necessarily need for a baby, but I would say a swing is an actual must-have! You have to have somewhere to safely set your baby down and swings are easy to move around the house or pack up and take along with you.

In my experience, your baby is way more likely to feel content or stay asleep if you put them down in a swing so that they continue to be rocked. Otherwise, you will find yourself rocking and bouncing all day, and trust me that is exhausting!

10 Best Strollers In 2023 – For Every Mom’s Needs!

[ad_1]

I am a big believer that finding the best stroller for you is one of the most important things you can do before your baby arrives! While I did a lot of baby-wearing with my newborns, I still can’t imagine not having a stroller around for walks and outings. That being said, every family’s stroller needs are probably going to be a bit different. You will want to take lifestyle into consideration along with budget, style, and comfort to find the perfect fit.

Below is our breakdown of the best strollers in 2023 for every type of mom.

Best Strollers in 2023

Best Overall – Uppababy Cruz

uppababy cruz

The Uppababy Cruz is a premium stroller that pretty much every new mom has on her radar (and for good reason!). The Uppababy Cruz is an all-around excellent stroller. It works great in tons of different scenarios from leisurely strolls to all-day-long adventures.

5 Things We Absolutely Love about the Uppababy Cruz

  • Easy to remove seat/car seat – This is essential when you have a newborn. With an Uppababy car seat, you can pop that car seat right out of the car and into the stroller with a simple click leaving your baby peacefully sleeping inside.
  • Incredibly Smooth Ride – The Uppababy Cruz has 4-wheel suspension which means you can use this thing pretty much anywhere and have a fairly smooth ride for the baby.
  • Best Storage – The Uppababy Cruz is by far the best stroller for storage. It has an easy-to-access storage basket that can hold so much! Plus, it has a compartment for a cup and an additional pocket. The basket can hold up to 30 lbs.
  • Great for Your Kids as They Grow – The Uppababy Cruz has a footrest that adjusts for your child as they become bigger, plus it can handle a weight of up to 50 lbs.
  • An Easy-to-Use Brake System – This might sound weird but hear me out. A lot of strollers have foot brakes which are convenient, but usually, you have to click up to unlock the brake. This is fine unless you are wearing sandals. I have broken sandals or ruined a nice pedicure by trying to click off the brake. On Uppababy there is one side for the Brake (labeled red) and the unlock is on the other side (labeled green).
Best Strollers of 2021 - Uppababy Cruz

Other Things We Love About the Uppababy Cruz

Along with the Uppababy Cruz frame, there are some great accessories that make this stroller versatile. This includes the bassinet with a storage bag, reversible toddler seat, rain shield for the toddler seat, and bug shield for both the bassinet and toddler seat.

If you are going to use a stroller on a regular basis (daily walks, trips to the park, etc.), this stroller is durable and versatile enough to carry one or more children for years. Not to mention, the Uppababy Cruz definitely is not lacking in style. In fact, it tops my list for looks!

One thing to note…

The Uppababy Cruz can not expand to a double stroller. However, it does have a standing board you can purchase separately, which we love for our 7-year-old. If you want to expand to a double stroller, check out Uppababy Vista.

You can check out our Full Review of Uppababy Cruz on Instagram!

Where can you get the Uppababy Cruz?

This stroller can be found in local stores or through online orders and will cost you about $699.

The Bumbleride Era offers a comfortable and super smooth ride. It is sleek, stylish, and eco-friendly!

5 Things We Love About the Bumbleride Era

  • Incredibly Comfortable For Baby – This stroller has comfy machine washable seat fabrics and it is covered with a canopy that has pop-out extensions with air vents for airflow and sun protection. This is perfect for those hot summer days. I remember my oldest yanking down the canopy because the sun always found a way to creep in the stroller.

Best Comfort Stroller - Bumbleride Era

One thing we would like to see improved but isn’t a big deal.

The only thing we did not love about the Bumbleride Era was the way it folds. It is not terribly difficult, just a little awkward as you have to swing the bar up and over the stroller. Otherwise, this stroller is a pretty sweet ride for your baby.

Where can you get the Bumbleride Era?

Bumbleride can be found in local stores or through online orders. There are 5 colors from which to choose and accessories (most sold separately) that help this stroller stay with your baby from birth to toddler. A Bumbleride Era runs about $799.

Best Stroller for the Theme Park Mom – Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller

best strollers

When it comes to theme parks with children, a quality stroller makes everything easier. Parks, like Disney, have restrictions on the size of strollers. City Mini GT2 meets the requirement of 31 inches wide by 52 inches long. In fact, you know the City Mini is a good theme park stroller because 95% of theme park stroller rental companies use it.

Of course, any stroller that is good enough to make it through a day at a theme park is great for day-to-day needs as well!

Why the City Mini Tops Our List

We had a City Mini for 4 of our kids, so you best believe we love it! The smooth ride will help you maneuver through groups and families when in theme parks. With the forever air rubber tires and all-wheel suspension, you can handle any type of terrain, even dirt paths.

Other Things We Love About This Stroller

  • Lightweight Design – The lightweight frame folds easily with one hand, which helps when collapsing it to board boats, trams, and monorails. All of this ease comes in a stroller that can support children up to 65 lb.
  • Easy to fold and tons of storage – There are two essentials when it comes to theme park strollers; easy breakdown and tons of storage. This stroller has both. You will get a giant basket and a one-hand fold with the City Mini.
  • The Capability to Hold Older Kids – If you have an older child that wants to ride more than walk, the glider board accessory holds up to 45 lbs and folds up when not in use. Our 6-year-old has cruised along just fine on the glider board through theme parks. Since theme parks may restrict the use of stroller wagons, this can ease the problem of juggling more than one child at the park.
  • Comfort for the Adults – This stroller comes with an adjustable handlebar for varying heights. You can also add accessories like the parent console for drinks and make bringing your own stroller to the theme park less of a hassle.

Where can you get the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2?

This stroller can be found in local stores or through online orders and will cost you about $399.99.

best stroller for travel - bebee lightweight

As a travel writer and a mom of 6, I have gone through a ton of travel trollers and the Bebee Lightweight Stroller is by far my favorite.

Why We Love It

The Joolz Aer Travel Stroller has one feature that really sets it apart; the one-handed quick fold (that actually works)! It is a great option if you are looking for a lightweight stroller that is easy to tote on travels.

I also tried out the bassinet attachment which makes the Joolz Aer newborn-friendly. The sun coverage it provides is amazing and well-vented to keep it from getting hot underneath. I really appreciate how this attachment folds up right along with the stroller and is very slim, making it easy to pack in the car.

Best Lightweight – Babyzen YOYO2 6+ Stroller

best strollers 2021

This stroller is super lightweight and easily collapsible, while still being durable and able to hold a child up to 48.5 pounds. That’s the best of both worlds!

Why We Love It

This is a French-designed stroller making it a bit different from the other options on our list. One of those big differences is that it weighs less than 14 pounds! That is less than half the weight of some of the top strollers from the U.S.

It folds up so well that it can fit in overhead compartments while traveling on airplanes. It also keeps the parent balanced when carrying a baby in one arm and a folded stroller in the other.

Features We Love

  • Lightweight but Sturdy – Just because it is light doesn’t mean that it can’t hold up to use. It is still constructed with aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and fiberglass and is able to support babies up to 48.5 pounds.
  • Plenty of Storage – The basket underneath is also spacious and durable.
  • Adaptability – This lightweight stroller can easily be your full-time stroller whether you walk everywhere in the city or still need to bring your baby in the car seat and use the adapters. It is great for travelers or for making your way through urban neighborhoods.

Something to Keep in Mind

The Babyzen is designed for babies six months and older who are sitting up more with a 5-point harness rather than infants.

Where can you get the Babyzen?

This stroller can be found in local stores or through online orders on Amazon and will cost you about $499.

Best Luxury – Bugaboo Donkey 5

bugaboo donkey 5

  • Adaptable from Single to Double Stroller – Bugaboo is truly adaptable with the ability to go from a single to a double stroller in three clicks.
  • High Weight Limits– The strong materials can hold up to 50 pounds per seat so this stroller will last you for the long run.
  • Slim Configuration – Even in the double stroller configuration, it can still fit through a standard doorway.
  • Easy to Keep Your Eye on Both Children – I appreciate both kids are in easy view while pushing. The toddler seat is not too high, so it doesn’t block your sight of the infant.
  • Double the Storage – The side luggage bag is a nice touch. It will keep your essentials within reach while still protected from the elements. Plus, there is also an under-seat basket for extra storage.

The Added Benefit of a Warranty

There are extra benefits to this luxurious stroller. It starts with a 100-day free trial to make sure it is the best fit for your family’s needs. It also comes with a 2+1 year warranty. best strollers 2021

If you are looking for a jogging stroller, you really cannot go wrong with the Bob Revolution Flex 3.0. It can be used as your everyday stroller in addition to being able to accompany you on hikes and jogs over rough terrain.

Why We Love It

The jogging stroller is made for the active parent who loves to adventure with their little one. BOB Gear is known for the jogging strollers that are made for outdoor activities. The Revolution Flex 3.0 is one of the best of their line of single strollers. *Keep in mind, that even though the stroller can be used with infants, the impact and bouncing of jogging are not suitable for their weak head and neck. You won’t want to jog with your child until they are around 8 months old.

Best Umbrella Stroller – 3D Lite Convenience Stroller

best stroller on a budget

When it comes to umbrella strollers, the 3D Lite Convenience Stroller is definitely one of the best options out there. It offers some of the bells and whistles that many other umbrella strollers do not.

Why We Love It

The difference between a full-size stroller and an umbrella stroller is mainly size. While a stroller system is great, some parents just don’t need a full-size stroller or, perhaps, they just want something more compact for certain occasions. Umbrella strollers are a less expensive option and are very lightweight.

Some people don’t need a big stroller or can’t store its bulk in their closet. Perhaps all they need is to go down the street to a neighbor. If all you need is something lightweight and easy on you without all of the bells and whistles of full-size strollers, the features, benefits, and price of the 3D Lite umbrella stroller may suit your needs.

Features We Love

  • Just 13 lbs! – The 3D stroller is 13 pounds and is very easy to fold and carry.
  • Offers More than the Typical Umbrella Stroller – Unlike some other umbrella strollers out there, the Convenience stroller has a reclining seat, adjustable canopy, and a storage basket.
  • Will Last Through the Toddler Years – It can hold a toddler up to 50 pounds.

Where can you get the 3D Lite Convenience Stroller?

This stroller can be found in local stores or through online orders and will cost you about $99.99.
