As promised earlier, the Supreme Court of the Philippines released the Bar Exam results on December 5, 2023. Along with the list of passers, the SC also released the Topnotchers and the Top Performing Law Schools.

According to the Supreme Court, a total of 10,387 examinees took the 2023 Bar examinations out of the 10,791 applicants.

The Supreme Court said 2023 will go down in history as the year when the results of two bar examinations — the 2022 Bar and the 2023 Bar — were released, followed by oath-taking ceremonies and signing of the Roll of Attorneys ceremonies for the passers.

The Philippines’ Supreme Court announced that 3,812 out of 10,387 (36.77%) successfully passed the bar exams.

Topping the 2023 Bar Examination is a University of Santo Tomas, Atty graduate. Ephraim Porciuncula Bie with an average rating of 89.2625%.

The Supreme Court of the Philippines noted earlier that the 2023 Bar Exam had an impressive 96.26% turnout. It was conducted last September 17, 20, and 24, 2023, in 14 local testing centers nationwide.

The 2023 Bar Exam testing centers were conducted in the National Capital Region (San Beda University – Manila, University of Santo Tomas, San Beda College Alabang, University of the Philippines – Diliman, Manila Adventist College, and University of the Philippines – Bonifacio Global City).

Testing centers were also in Luzon (Saint Louis University, Cagayan State University, and University of Nueva Caceres).

Meanwhile, the Visayas testing centers include (the University of San Jose – Recoletos, University of San Carlos, and Dr. V. Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation) and Mindanao (Ateneo de Davao University and Xavier University).

After successfully conducting the 2020-2021 and 2022 Bar Exams, the Supreme Court decided to use Examplify again, a computer-based examination program allowing examinees to take a test securely using their own devices.

Filipino aspiring lawyers took the 2023 Bar exam in person in their venue of choice, supervised by proctors, and monitored through closed-circuit television cameras.

According to Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, 2023 Bar Examinations Chairperson, to raise the Bar for this year’s Bar Exam, they made sure that the regionalized and digitalized Bar was accessible and inclusive to all examinees, including those with special needs, to take the Exams under exceptional accommodations.

Updates on the Release of the 2023 Bar Exam Results

The Supreme Court of the Philippines assured the examinees that the results of the Bar Exam would be released before Christmas Day.

Last November 16, the Office of the Bar Chair (OBC) officially announced that the September 2023 Bar Exam Results will be out on the afternoon of December 5, 2023, or tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Supreme Court also added that the traditional release of the List of Passers will still be held at the Supreme Courtyard in Padre Faura Street, Manila.

The Philippine Supreme Court shall display the List of Successful Examinees on LED walls until 6:00 PM.

Aside from the Padre Faura display, the SC will announce the results through its official website and other social media platforms such as Twitter, Threads, Facebook, and Instagram.

Oath-Taking and Roll-Signing Ceremony

The Supreme Court earlier announced that the oath-taking and roll-signing ceremony for those who will pass the September 2023 Bar Exams is on December 22, 2023, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

Topnotchers and Top Performing Law Schools

The list of topnotchers for the September 2023 Bar Examinations will also be added here. The Supreme Court will also release the list of top-performing law schools.

During the previous Bar Exam conducted in 2020 and 2021, the Supreme Court did not release the list of topnotchers. Still, instead, they just recognized examinees who recorded “exemplary performance” in the Bar Exam.

During the previous Bar Exam, the Supreme Court also released the ranking of the law schools according to the percentage of passers or passing rate.

September 2023 Bar Exam Coverage

This year’s Bar Examinations tackled six core subjects:

  1. Political and Public International Law (15%)
  2. Commercial and Taxation Laws (20%)
  3. Civil Law (20%)
  4. Labor Law and Social Legislation (10%)
  5. Criminal Law (10%)
  6. Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises (25%)

According to SC, these core subjects were determined and approved by the Court En Banc upon thoughtful review of previous syllabi and due consideration of the latest developments in legal practice.

The Philippine Bar Examination is considered the most prestigious and most challenging professional licensure examination in the country for aspiring lawyers. It is the only Professional examination not handled by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). The Supreme Court of the Philippines exclusively conducts the Bar exam.

Marco Selorio Profile Bio: Combining Basketball, StreetDance & Web3

[ad_1]

Marco Selorio is a Filipino entrepreneur based in Australia and is one of the few individuals who tried to connect the basketball community, street dance community, and Web3 community into a strong group of individuals to fulfill his dreams of connecting Filipino communities around the world.

The Australian-Filipino entrepreneur stands out from the crowd as he initiated the first-ever basketball convention (BCON) scheduled in the Philippines for June 25, 2023, at Paco Arena, Manila featuring one of the most successful coaches from the National Basketball Association, Assistant Coach Phil Handy of the Los Angeles (LA) Lakers.

Marco Selorio graduated with an Economics and Commerce Degree from Australian National University (ANU) and started his first entrepreneurial venture called Hoopdreamz, then formed WSB, Mas Music Group, and lately the Web3 company Coinchella.

Marco Selorio’s Love of Basketball:

Marco Selorio previously organized basketball events through the first company that he founded in Australia, Hoopdreamz, a company coordinating basketball and community events for Filipino-Australians.

The company used to organize a lot of 3×3 competitions, PBA Legends Tour in Australia. Selorio is one of the pioneer promoters of the popular PBA Legends Tours, working with PBA superstars like Alvin Patrimonio, Allan Caidic, Gerry Codiñera, Chito Loyzaga, Samboy Lim, and Jojo Lastimosa to name a few.

The PBA Legends Tour in Australia caught the attention of the Filipino-Australian Basketball Community, and that was the beginning of Marco Selorio’s journey as an event organizer.

Before his stint in organizing basketball events, Selorio used to work as a marketing manager with the Sydney Kings, a champion team of the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia.

What is WSB and How It Started?

The World Supremacy Battlegrounds (WSB) was founded by Marco Selorio in the year 2002 and right now it is one of the most recognizable brands in the world of hip-hop dance scene worldwide. One of the most significant and life-changing events that happened to Selorio’s life was during the time when his brother’s hip-hop crew became popular and it ignited an annual calendar of dance events, becoming a celebration for Filipino families to celebrate and connect with the youth community.

Marco launched his events career in 2002 after his younger brother told him about a group of dancers who performed together and dance to hip-hop music forming a crew and were about to participate in a dance competition in Australia. The event gave an idea to Marco to create a multicultural dance platform that music fans will learn to embrace and appreciate.

Marco Selorio was quoted as saying “Kids loved the music and the family vibe and parents were comfortable being there with their kids,” Marcos said. He also added that “They really enjoy the atmosphere, the families and communities coming together to be entertained by the talent in the community.” Selorio added.

In September 2002, Marco Selorio initiated the GROOVE event which would eventually rename World Supremacy Battlegrounds. This event was the beginning of Selorio’s decades’ of journey in street dance. What really inspired him to pursue street dance was when he was blown away by the community’s reception, with over four hundred people in attendance.

Two decades later, the WSB event has already crossed six continents, featuring dancers from different walks of life and from different countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Selorio’s movement was able to unearth some incredibly talented dance stars and gave the dance community a beacon of hope.

MAS Presents:

For the past two years of building his first entrepreneurial project, he took his events business, MAS Presents, to the next level by organizing the first World Supremacy Battleground (WSB) dance competition in Sydney, Australia.

The WSB saw masses of Filipinos coming together to support their favorite teams, and this was just the beginning of the global expansion of WSB, allowing the event to reach six continents in the year 2015.

Marco still believes that he has so much more to offer to the youth of the Philippines, believing this is one of the reasons why he has maintained such a strong connection to his country of birth, the Philippines.

The community builder based in Australia made an initial estimate that the World Supremacy Battleground has featured around 73,000 dancers since its inauguration in 2002, featuring Filipino talent and having seen success both in Australia and around the world.

WSB is now considered a global platform providing recognition for the dancers and musicians as he noted that the Filipino community really gets behind the dancers and even stated that they are especially loud for those from their home city and their province, and some of the teams who have won have become TV stars, and they get recognized.

Mas Music Group:

The community builder from Australia is the Filipino behind the MAS Music Group, it is considered the first Australian-Filipino independent record label in the Land Down Under that released the 2019 popular record label, the Blue Label Show.

The company has built a stable list of producers, beatmakers, songwriters, artists, and influencers under Selorio’s management. Mas Music Group is responsible for the success of Australia’s Got Talent grand finalist Geneses Cerezo and dance champion Kookies N Kream, R&B Singer Alysha Erhan, BBOY star Michael Flores, and Wollongong acoustic singer, Blessie Pica.

Before founding the Mas Music Group, Marco Selorio worked with Grammy Award-winning stars All 4 One, Backstreet Boys, Chris Brown, and Rihanna before launching his music platform for aspiring music artists and content creators in the Filipino community.

Founding Coinchella:

Marco Selorio founded Coinchella in May 2022 after he was wondering how he can share all of his new-found Web3 crypto knowledge and connections with his community.

He was able to get connected with some amazing Web3 creators, investors, and developers who offered to collaborate and share his vision. In the dance community, WSB NFTs will allow his community to offer membership utility, education, exclusivity, and opportunities.

This could take some time to show these dance creators how to navigate the Web3 space but Selorio is optimistic about his project and the good thing is the fact that his community is committed to pursuing his dreams of connecting the dance community to Web3.

Coinchella and World Supremacy Battleground (WSB) in cooperation with Adelaide 36ers was responsible for the first-ever One Night Only event with rising NBL star Kai Sotto last December December 4, 2022, at the Netball Central Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney Australia featuring NBA prospect Kai Sotto.

Marco Selorio’s Family and Personal Life:

Marco Selorio’s family already migrated to the Land Down Under, Australia, and to the United States of America, Marco stated that he is really proud to be a Filipino, even though Australia is already his home right now.

As of posting time, there’s not so much information about Marco Selorio on his personal life but we will keep on searching the internet for information relevant to Marco Selorio. This post will be updated as soon as we can get more information about one of the most prominent Filipino achievers not only within the basketball community but also within the dance, and Web3 community.

Event organizer Marco Selorio is the main man behind this exciting event showcasing basketball, street dance, and the Web3 community.

The basketball convention or basketballcon will be held this coming Sunday, June 25, 2013, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Paco Arena, in the City of Manila. Short Story About Basketball Conference (BCON):

According to Marco Selorio in an interview with one of the country’s leading news outlets, PhilStar, he remembered when he used to live in the Philippines back in 1985 when his parents took him to a Shakey’s restaurant, watching an NBA Game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Washington Bullets.

That memories about basketball keep on reminding him even when he migrated to the Land Down Under or in Australia but his passion for basketball had been lit during that time.

Marco also noted that in Australia, he was the first person to produce PBA Legends Tours back in 2005, since then he dreamt about creating an expo or conference type of event that would bring fans and players together, like a fan fest.

Since 2022, the event organizer from Australia was already heavily involved in the street dance community so it was just a matter of curating cross-cultural events that can bring hip-hop and basketball under one roof.

This is the reason why the Coinchella founder, Marco Selorio, brings us to BasketballCon, or BCon for short, here in the Philippines, a lifetime event that brings together everyone who loves the game of basketball, Filipinos favorite pass time.

Basketball Conference 2023 Venue:

The basketball conference is scheduled this coming Sunday, June 25 at the air-conditioned Paco Arena, located at Leroy Street, Corner San Gregorio Street, Paco, Manila, Philippines.

The Paco Arena in Metro Manila is a popular destination for various social gatherings and activities. It also hosted basketball tournaments like the UNTV Cup, a men’s charity basketball league featuring the best basketball teams organized by government agencies and guested by celebrities and ex-pro and amateur players.

The arena was also used by popular celebrity and content creator Donnalyn Bartolome for her recent music video titled “Shawty,” which generated more than 6.7 million views and still counting on YouTube.

Guests & Prominent Personalities for BasketballCon:

The Basketball Convention Lifestyle Event in Paco Manila will showcase PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo and Jared Dillinger, avid Web3 enthusiasts, and Key Opinion Leaders. He was also featured in the recently concluded Bull or Bear Online Debate.

The highlights and centerpiece of the event is the opportunity to meet and listen to three-time NBA champion coach Phil Handy of the Los Angeles Lakers, a personal friend of Marco Selorio.

Coach Phil Handy made a name for himself in the United States for training the greatest players in the history of basketball from Kobe Bryant to LeBron James, Pau Gasol, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, and many other popular NBA stars and world-renowned basketball superstars.

The organizer also announced on his social media account that legendary PBA coach Joe Lipa will also grace the event in Manila on June 25 as he will be talking about his new book, BASKETBALL101 plus an autograph signing after his talks.

Aside from the above-mentioned well-known personalities, BCON will also add excitement with the presence of streetball exhibitions and World Supremacy Battleground (WSB) dance battles. Celebrities like Eric “Eruption” Tai and DJ Loonyo will be gracing the event also.

Web3 Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) and speakers Martin David from SoleMovement, former Australian pro ballers Bruce Bolden and Andre Williams, founders of LobX, and representatives from House of Crypto and BreederDaO, will share their experience with cryptocurrency and Web3.

More About BasketballCon:

BCon will have basketball industry thought leaders and Web3 founders, an Anta Shock The Game 4×4 full-court tournament, a brand-new BCON 7-To-Smoke one-on-one showdown, Battlegrounds Manila street dance battles and PBA stars, as well as exhibitors who will showcase basketball products and technology.

In a news report posted by Manila Bulletin last June 8, 2023, BasketballCon is a fusion of basketball, Web3 technology, and culture. They invite enthusiasts to a first-of-its-kind basketball festival celebrating Filipino passion for the sport, web3 innovations, and vibrant local talents.

BasketballCon will feature a unique mix of activities including panel talks featuring NBA legendary coach Phil Handy and PBA Coach Joe Lipa, Web3 technology key opinion leaders, streetball exhibitions, competitive dance battles, and live hip-hop music performances.

The conference will also host a unique speaker line-up that includes former professional players, coaches, sports analysts, blockchain experts, and entrepreneurs from renowned platforms like SoleMovement and LobX.

Partners and Supporters of the Basketball Conference:

Marco Selorio’s Coinchella also confirmed on social media that their first basketball uniform collab with Supreme Basketball Company and CHLOMARS will be launched at BCON on June 25, 2023.

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), Asia’s oldest play-for-pay professional basketball league also partnered with Coinchella as an official marketing firm.

Supporters of the BasketballCon include Ehtereum Philippines Community, Hanes, XO Guild, Anta, WSB Street, 94 Feet of Game App, Secret Fresh, SMMPh, Bitskwela, MDC Sports, DvCode, and DBuzz built on Hive blockchain to name a few.

The DBuzz logo is prominently displayed at the banner of the first-ever Basketball Conference in the Philippines through the efforts made by Chris Rice, DBuzz founder and long-time Hive user.

Having the DBuzz logo in the poster distributed online through social media channels and the event being reported by prominent news outlets here in the country, like the Philippine Star and the Manila Bulletin will surely add value to the Hive community.

He made an introduction to D.Buzz and its role in Web3 social media ownership, the unique features of the Hive ecosystem, and the reasons why it is ideal for Web3 developers. He also stressed the importance of the saying “not your keys, not your crypto.”

Gio Comia (Tekkon Brand Ambassador):

Tekkon is a Pokemon Go-like app that uses crowdsourcing to collect information that public utilities need to keep power lines and water networks operating smoothly. The Web3 app was introduced by the Whole Earth Foundation, a nonprofit started by Takashi Kato, a Japanese entrepreneur who previously founded Fracta Inc., a startup that uses software to identify the weak points in urban water networks to help cities, utilities, and construction companies pinpoint the decay of pipes before they break ground.

According to the whitepaper released by Tekkon, when they developed the first version of the app, members of the public took photos of all 10,500 of the sewer manholes in Shibuya City, Tokyo-data that the sewerage board had not been able to obtain-with their smartphones in just three days.

Likhaan aims to make its platform the global destination for discovering unique artworks. As part of Likhaan’s commitment to elevating the art industry, they also enable creators to easily thrive in local and international markets by providing them with the necessary tools and support.

They provide space for creators to have sustainable support, access to skill-building programs, and effective global connections and for buyers, Likhaan offers a secure and efficient shopping experience at all times.

The main reason why they do it, is because of the fact that a lot of Filipino artists and their artworks get little to no recognition, which further restricts them from bigger connections, exposures, and opportunities.
